Last week the Hillsboro Chamber coordinated two events. There are so many people to thank for making the Chamber Golf Classic and Hillsboro’s New Bond’s Alley a successful event. Susan and Tiger Russell recruited quality artists and musicians for the Bond’s Alley Art Festival. Pamela and David Bowman worked tirelessly making ready “Bond’s Alley and provided the layout of booth space for the event. Then they attended to the Artists needs during the event. Chris Moore, Hillsboro’s new Main Street Manager assisted the team in providing leadership, while I was dividing my time between the Golf Classic and Bond’s Alley. It seems everywhere that I go, people tell me what a great job I did to bring back Hillsboro’s New Bond’s Alley. Now I want everyone to know that this was not a “Vicki” event. There were many people who made this a success. Rachal Cox my Administrative Assistant, Cleo Davis, Walker Sawyer, Megan Boyd with EH Anderson and those who said, “When are you bringing back Bond’s Alley” deserve so much credit. Our first Bond’s Alley after the hiatus is a launching point for a bigger and better event next year.
Thank you to all of the Artists who took a chance on the New Bond’s Alley. We knew it was a gamble. But when we heard from 90% of the artists and they requested an invitation to next year’s event, maybe we did an adequate job of attracting buyers to the event. Our goal was to attract 2000 visitors to the event. And from all indications over 2000 people walked the streets of Hillsboro Friday and Saturday of the weekend events. About 5:45 pm Saturday buyers walked through the ally and made a purchases.
Thank you George Boutwell for giving your support to our event. Your support means so much to the community of Hillsboro.
Next year Main Street Manager, Chris Moore will oversee the event. We are looking forward to many successfully years of the Historic Bond’s Alley Art Festival and attracting Art Lovers from the region to Hillsboro.
