June was a busy month. I am very excited to report that the Golf Classic with the financial support of Bobcat Contracting, our sponsors and with the tireless leadership of Glen Carter was a success. Our Ambassadors and staff were such an asset to the golf classic. Each of them went above and beyond. Thank you to all the participants in the Golf Classic. Reviving Bond’s Alley Art Festival was a risky endeavor. Susan and Terrance (Tiger) Russell along with Pamela and David Bowman did an excellent job in a making the event a success. The Russels attended art festivals and invited artists. The Bowmans coordinated the booth layout and took care of the minutest details. When you see one of the committee members please tell them how much you appreciate what they did for Hillsboro. Megan Boyd with EH Anderson did an outstanding job promoting the New Bond’s Alley Art Festival. The art festival attracted approximately 2000 to the event. Eighty percent of A Tisket A Tasket’s business that Saturday was from out of towners. Ninety percent of the artists/vendors requested an invitation to the 2016 Bond’s Alley. Next year, Main Street Manager, Chris Moore is planning a bigger event which will improve and add to the event’s success. Bond’s Alley 2016 will be held June 4th and 5th. I can’t wait to experience next year’s art weekend under the direction of Main Street. Looking forward the Chamber and Reporter/KHBR are planning a Job Fair for August 15. Art Mann with the Hillsboro Economic Development Board in conjunction with the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce is currently putting the final touches on planning the Saturday event. If you know an employer with staffing needs, have them contact the chamber office at 254-582-2481.
