Reservations for “Hill County Day in Austin” are now being accepted by area chamber of commerce officials.

The charter-bus day trip will take place Thursday, February 26, leaving from Historic City Hall at 127 East Franklin Street in Hillsboro at 6:45 a.m.

Activities for the day include attending the opening ceremonies for the House and Senate, a Dutch-treat luncheon, a group picture of those attending and presentations by representatives from various state agencies and lobbyists.

The trip gives local residents an opportunity to see their legislators at work on the floors of the House of Representatives and Senate and in committee hearings.

The cost of the bus trip and meal will be $25, or for those traveling in their own vehicle or living in Austin, the cost for the meal is $15.

The Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, along with chambers from Lake Whitney, Hubbard and Itasca, is hosting the event.
