Many of the downtown Hillsboro, Texas buildings are historical landmarks, and are home to businesses, restaurants, residential lofts and shops that buzz with activity during the week and on Saturdays, but get very quiet on Sundays.
The restorations in the downtown area of Hillsboro, garnered recognition in 1981 by the Texas Historical Commission – naming Hillsboro as one of the first “Main Street” cities to receive the designation.

While you’re downtown, please don’t forget that the Hill County Courthouse is open during the week (but closed weekends). Visitors are permitted to see the beautiful restored courthouse, and you can catch up on the courthouse history and “story” at these links:
