The Hillsboro Farmers Market’s rollout of new Snap + Double Up Food Bucks program starts this Saturday
The Hillsboro Farmers Market is officially OPEN this season with a new SNAP benefit program that will assist families and enable them to double the fresh produce they purchase from local farmers starting May 17th 2025.
This program matches purchases using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, dollar for dollar. SNAP shoppers can visit the market’s main booth to check their benefits and get a list of items eligible for the program, and shop at the participating booths at the farmers market.
The Double Up program is a win-win for both local farmers and SNAP shoppers, said Melissa Awtrey, the Hillsboro Farmers Market board president. “This will benefit our farmers because they can sell more produce, which means they can continue to supply our community with fresh, healthy, delicious food, and It’s also a wonderful opportunity for families to put lots of fruits and vegetables straight from the farm onto their dinner tables.”
The Hillsboro market takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, from May through the last weekend in October, on the west side of the Hill County Courthouse Square.

To contact the market, please call (254) 722-7362 or email hillsboro.texasfarmersmarket@gmail.com. The market facebook link is https://www.facebook.com/HillsboroTXFarmersMarket where they often post the farmers and vendors that will be at the market.
Please note that Saturday, May 17th 2025 will also be the annual large Churrofest festival in downtown, so expect large crowds and significant activity downtown.
