The 2025 installment of the Bond’s Alley Art Festival is set for Saturday, June 14, in downtown Hillsboro, with a community picnic scheduled to kick festivities off Friday night, June 13.
Friday’s picnic is free to attend, and guests should bring their own food. Those attending are asked to register so the city can prepare. Visit www.hillsboromainstreet.org and click “Events” to register for either the 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. seating option.
Eastland Title is sponsoring refreshments during Friday night’s picnic, with items like tea, lemonade and water for sale, and wine will be available for a donation. The profits from this portion of the event will benefit the “Light up the Heart of our Town” fundraiser, which will help fund new rooftop lighting around the square.
Organizers are working towards a total goal of $32,000 to replace all lighting along the downtown square. The new LED bulbs will be permanently installed and protected from the harsh Texas elements, with the ability to change colors.
Saturday’s juried art festival will begin at 9 a.m., with vendors set up in Bond’s Alley until 2 p.m. Only vendors with handmade items or those who can provide an artistic experience for the community will be included.
An online silent auction is also included this year, and all proceeds will benefit the “Light up the Heart of our Town” fundraiser. The public can now bid on auction items by visiting www.32auctions.com/BondsAlley. Auction items will be displayed in the windows overlooking Bond’s Alley. The auction will end at noon Saturday.
George Boutwell is this year’s featured artist. He will have small originals, small canvas prints and his book available Saturday. Visit www.gboutwell.com for more information about the artist.
The Bond’s Alley Arts & Crafts Fair began in June 1965 in Bond’s Alley, next to the former T.B. Bond Pharmacy building, which now houses Overflow Coffee. The fair provided both an opportunity for local artists to display their work and an opportunity to raise funds for local improvements.
